Van Persie’s a Goner!

So…Everything I said yesterday has been answered today with Robin Van Persie posting a statement confirming that He will not be renewing his contract with Arsenal. He says in his statement

“I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days.  Out of my huge respect for Mr Wenger, the players and the fans I don’t want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal FC should move forward.”

“I’ve thought long and hard about this and I’ve decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinion”

So the decision has finally been allowed to come to light.  It’s not really as much of a shock as I thought it would be, obviously it’s a bit sad that our best player is leaving but we can’t really blame him for this.  He does not agree with Arsenal philosophy anymore and not many of us fans do either. We have respect that if he doesn’t believe in us anymore then we can’t force him to stay. He has had a great year at Arsenal and he wants to win so he needs to go.

As for Arsenal I think the board have messed up big time, team ambition should be what a club should strive to and we just don’t seem to have as much as we use to.  Will Wenger and co sell Van Persie for a premium or make him play it out and he will go on a free.  If they are about the money then they will sell. I just really hope he chooses a club abroad and not Man City as that would be awful.

I’d like to thank Van Persie…What a phenomenal player he is.  He has given us some great football to watch and has scored a fair few cracking goals over the years. Thanks for the time and I wish you all the best…(providing you don’t go City)

  1. i have to disagree on a point mind lol – this season last, was the first and only season that he has played a full season for the club with no injury whatsoever, he should have stayed loyal to the club who stood by him for all these injury plagued years and the fans who stood by him, one season and he thinks he’s god already, fair enough if he doesn’t believe in the arsenal way – like so many over the years we have all worked out that the board and wenger only care about farming youngsters through to loan and sell off and acquiring players to sell on in the future for vast profit – i think many of us who were honest and realistic on the club knew last year and in jan that he would not sign and it was why he had stalled – tho this news out today comes in coincidently with podolski’s timed official signing – after vn persie stating he waned to see some bigger signings, we did that so far with giroud and podolski, two – well the latter being a world class international who van persie had stated when he was due to sign that he ‘cannot wait to play alongside him’, sadly i’ve got used to the clubs usual smokescreen to fans after gazidis’s ‘we have substantial funds to buy in janaury’ to which we then spent just £420,000 on a 19 year old from dortmund’s academy who most people in dortmnd had never heard of either, to the re-signing of henry to appeae fans who wanted new signings in january to strengthen the club despite the substantial funds to buy that they never did, i could go on and on really

  2. I don’t a problem with Van Persie as frustrating as it is to hear he’s leaving, I put the blame squarely at the door of the board and Arsene Wenger and quite frankly I’m getting bored of putting my passion behind a team who’s board don’t give a shit about their fans,it’s all about money economics and profits for shareholders,as for you Mr Wenger if you can’t or won’t affect the situation then maybe you should move on too, and let someone with balls that’s not stuck in the mud take control , we the fans are passionate about the club and are tired of the rollercoaster ride for fourth place,at least you guys have swollen bank accounts to console you, we don’t.
Always a Gooner, but definitely not a fan of our inept greedy board, wake up I say and as they say in sales, you can’t keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.
I rest my case your honor.!

    • I absolutely agree with you Shaun…The board are to blame for this. They need to hear the fans on this one, we don’t support a business we support a football team and when that football team suffers due to money reasons then something isn’t right 🙂
