When Sunday Comes

It’s the last day of the season on Sunday and what a final day that promises to be. I love football and I have to say how exciting it is that it all is decided on the last day of the season, it keeps the anticipation levels high especially if you are a supporter of any of these teams and it makes for such and exciting finale.  I’m really excited about Sunday, I have my lad mates round for a little end of season watching session.  I can guarantee you we will be sitting there at 3pm watching Sky (and probably streaming a game too) and i’ll be on the edge of my seat with the goals going in, whilst bantering with the guys about how it will all finish . It’s days like this I really realise how much emotional attachment I have to this beautiful game.  I love it.

We have the Premier League title to be won with both Man United and Man City on equal points. Man United have Sunderland away, Man City have Qpr at the Eithad.  Neither team are going to be willing to squander these games and with Man City ahead on goal difference could they actually pip Man United to the title?

3rd place to be decided between Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle. Arsenal are on 67 points and if they win they will guarantee a Champions league place in next years season.  However chasing their tails is Tottenham on 66 points and Newcastle on 65. Both Spurs and Newcastle will relish in qualifying for CL.  If Arsenal draw or lose and Spurs and Newcastle win then this could be a very tricky finish.  Whoever ends up 4th can run the risk of not getting a Champion’s league place if Chelsea win against Bayern Munich.

The last decider of Sunday’s season finale is the relegation battle between QPR, Bolton and possibly Aston Villa. Bolton are on 35 points after a tough season for them, they play Stoke City away.  QPR are on 37 points and they play Man City away which is certainly going to be the tougher of the 3 games. Aston Villa are on 38 points and are playing Norwich which will also be a tough one for them.

What a strange and crazy season it has been! I certainly didn’t think think it would all be decided on the last day.  I’m not sure anyone could’ve predicted the twists and turns of the season at all.  Some teams pulled together really well and proved everyone wrong and some teams fell apart and gave a few shocks.  The fight for the top was pretty much between City and United the whole way through, Arsenal and Chelsea suffered a bit this year.  Tottenham came out firing but subdued towards the end and Newcastle just fired their way through after selling their ‘best’ player .  As a football fan I have enjoyed the the madness this season has been.

So Sunday is almost upon us, I hope you all enjoy the last day of the season…and remember It’s not over until the fat lady sings…

(but if Arsenal are losing someone grab that fat lady and don’t her sing please)
